America’s Cup Joins Naples Charity Event to Support Youth Through Sport

The Louis Vuitton 38th America’s Cup will take part in “Una Serata di Stelle per PUPI” in Naples, supporting a charity initiative focused on youth inclusion, education and opportunities through sport.

The Louis Vuitton 38th America’s Cup will join a major charity event in Naples this Saturday, September 26, as the city continues to welcome the sailing world during the 38th America’s Cup programme.

“Una Serata di Stelle per PUPI” will take place at Piazza del Plebiscito from 21:00, bringing together figures from the worlds of sport, entertainment and the America’s Cup community in support of the Fondazione P.U.P.I., established by former Argentine footballer Javier Zanetti and Paula de la Fuente.

The foundation’s “Lo Sport ci Rende Uguali” programme provides educational and recreational opportunities for children aged between six and 17, using sport as a tool for inclusion, personal development and social opportunity.

The event will also raise funds for six local organisations in Naples working to promote inclusion, wellbeing and youth development through sport.

America’s Cup joins the initiative

Senior members of the America’s Cup teams and management will take part in the evening, underlining the connection between the competition and the city of Naples beyond the racecourse.

“Sport has an extraordinary ability to help young people grow, learn and face life,” said Marzio Perrelli, CEO of America’s Cup Partnership.

“The America’s Cup and the global sailing community are deeply committed to the ‘Sport for Good’ initiative and we are proud to stand alongside Fondazione P.U.P.I. in supporting projects that create concrete opportunities for children and teenagers.”

The charity evening comes during a significant week for sailing in Naples, with the city hosting the Louis Vuitton 38th America’s Cup programme.

Supporting youth through sport

The event is being presented as an opportunity to use the reach of sport to create opportunities beyond competition.

For the America’s Cup, the participation adds a social dimension to its presence in Naples, linking the global sailing community with local initiatives focused on young people, inclusion and access to sport.
