Bright and Pilloni Lead the Way Into the iQFOiL U23 Medal Series

Puck, Poland — October 2, 2026 — The top ten sailors in both the Men’s and Women’s fleets are confirmed for Saturday’s Medal Series at the iQFOiL U23 World Championships in Puck, with the final day of qualification producing several major changes across the leaderboard.

After a slower start in lighter breeze, conditions strengthened during the afternoon, allowing the fleet to return to Course Racing on the Bay of Puck.

In the Women’s fleet, Aimee Bright (NZL) held on to the overall lead and secured a direct place in Saturday’s Grand Final. Maya Gysler (NOR) produced the standout performance of the day, winning three races and adding a second-place finish to move into the top two and join Bright directly in the Grand Final.

Lina Erzen (SLO) also made her presence felt with a race win as the battle for the remaining Medal Series places intensified.

The final spot in the Women’s top ten was decided late in the day. Aleksandra Wasiewicz (POL) was in position to qualify before a broken mast forced her to miss the final race. Sophia Meyer (GER) took advantage, moving into tenth and securing the final place in Saturday’s Quarter Final.

The Men’s fleet saw another strong performance from the host nation. Stanislaw Trepczynski (POL) won three races to finish inside the top five and earn a direct place in the Semi Final.

His compatriot Maciej Dabek (POL) also made a significant move, climbing five places during the day and breaking into the top ten at the expense of Igor Lewinski (POL).

At the top of the Men’s leaderboard, Italy continued to dominate. Federico Alan Pilloni (ITA) finished the Qualification Series in first place, ahead of compatriot Leonardo Tomasini (ITA). Both sailors will go directly to Saturday’s Grand Final.

With the qualification phase now complete, the remaining places in the Medal Series are set. The top ten Men and Women will return to the Bay of Puck on Saturday, with the iQFOiL U23 World Champions set to be crowned after the final racing of the championship.
