The second day of the 52 SUPER SERIES Valencia Sailing Week delivered two races in the season finale. Platoon Aviation extended its advantage over Sled in the championship fight, while Alkedo Cetilar claimed another race win for the second consecutive day. Vayu, meanwhile, moved to the top of the Valencia regatta standings after four races.
Racing continued with a 16-boat fleet in variable and tactically demanding breeze, producing two different stories at the top of the fleet.
Platoon Aviation produced a 1-5 scoreline across the two races, while its closest championship rival Sled finished 3rd and 6th.

The results leave Platoon Aviation on 189 points and Sled on 201, giving Platoon a 12-point advantage in the championship standings.
Platoon’s race win came in the first race of the day, while the second race proved more complicated. Vasco Vascotto said the team had made a strong start but became too focused on Sled as the wind shifted.
“In the shifty breeze you need to sail your own race.”
Despite the second-race setback, Platoon finished the day with a 1-5 scoreline and strengthened its position at the top of the championship.

VAYU TAKES THE VALENCIA LEAD
In the Valencia regatta standings, Vayu moved to the top after four races.
The team has recorded an 8-2-5-2 series for a total of 17 points. Platoon Aviation is second on 18, while Alkedo Cetilar and Sled share third on 19 points.
Vayu has reached the top without a race win so far, building its position through a consistent series of results.
Manu Weiller pointed to strong starts and an early read on the wind shifts as key elements of the team’s performance.
“We are getting good starts and getting in phase with the wind shifts early.”

ALKEDO WINS FOR THE SECOND CONSECUTIVE DAY
One of the day’s strongest performances came from Alkedo Cetilar.
After finishing 7th in the first race, Alkedo returned to the front of the fleet to win the second race of the day. It was the team’s second consecutive race victory after also winning on Tuesday.
Alkedo’s four-race scoreline now stands at 10-1-7-1, giving the team 19 points and third place in the Valencia standings alongside Sled.
The result was particularly significant for Andrea Lacorte, who celebrated his birthday with the victory.
“What a perfect way to celebrate your birthday.”
Alkedo also continues to hold third place in the season standings as the fight for the final podium position remains open.

PAPREC DROPS FROM THE TOP
Paprec began the second day as the overnight leader in Valencia but slipped down the standings after a difficult pair of races.
After opening the regatta with 2nd and 3rd, Paprec finished 12th and 7th on the second day.
The team lost ground in the first race after finding itself on the wrong side of the first major wind shift. With 24 points, Paprec is now sixth in the Valencia standings.
The result also leaves Paprec in the middle of the season-long battle for the final podium position.

TRINITY RECOVERS WITH TWO FOURTHS
Trinity Racing produced a much steadier second day after a mixed opening day.
The team won the first race of the regatta before finishing 14th in the second. On the second day, Trinity responded with two fourth-place finishes.
The 4-4 scoreline brought greater consistency to its Valencia campaign and kept Trinity in contention in the season standings.

KATANA SHOWS ITS SPEED
Katana, competing in its first 52 SUPER SERIES campaign, produced one of the day’s notable results.
After opening with two 9th-place finishes, the American team moved into second place in the first race of the second day.
Katana finished 12th in the following race and now sits eighth overall in Valencia with 32 points.
The result showed that the new team can also compete at the front of a 16-boat fleet.
THE SEASON PODIUM BATTLE REMAINS OPEN
Alongside the Valencia regatta lead and the championship fight between Platoon Aviation and Sled, the battle for the final step of the season podium remains close.
Platoon Aviation leads the championship on 189 points, with Sled on 201.
Behind them, Alkedo Cetilar, Paprec, Trinity Racing and No Way Back remain involved in the fight for the remaining podium places.
With racing continuing in Valencia, the 12-point gap between Platoon and Sled and the battle for third overall are two of the key storylines heading into the final races of the 2026 season.
Racing continues Thursday at approximately 1400 local time.
