Knidos returned to the course after a long break, and a week of racing closed with a sail-training ship’s 25th birthday in focus.
Bodrum, Türkiye, 24 October 2026. DANIEL 1 is the champion of the 38th The Bodrum Cup, which ended on Saturday with a prize-giving at Yalıkavak Marina and a concert by Pinhâni. About 90 boats and nearly 1,000 sailors raced over five stages and 79 nautical miles. The week opened on 19 October with the traditional bell ceremony in Bodrum.

The route ran from Bodrum to Knidos, then Ortakent and Yalıkavak. Knidos, back on the course after a long break, was one of the year’s standout stops. The five stages were SumOne (12 miles, Bodrum), Ruins Luxury Resort (20 miles, Bodrum to Knidos), Yalıkavak Marina (20 miles, Knidos to Ortakent), OPET (15 miles, Ortakent to Yalıkavak) and Anadolu Sigorta (12 miles, Yalıkavak), which closed the racing on Saturday.

DANIEL 1 took the overall title, the Challenge Cup and the Bodrum Municipality’s Fidel Berber special award. MIHO DS won the Year Special Cup, ATLAS G the Cruiser Cup, and BELİZ G the Fastest in Bodrum Cup. Full results are at bodrumcup.com/sonuclar.
Beside the racing, the week centred on Bodrum Gemisi, the sail-training ship that grew out of The Bodrum Cup and is now 25 years old. Run under the BOSAV foundation, it introduces young people to sailing. Its refit at the Ağanlar shipyard continues, and the aim is to return it to training, international projects and cultural events. Proceeds from the closing Pinhâni concert and from the SumOne collection made for the race go to BOSAV.

“This year, in Bodrum Gemisi’s 25th year, we gathered around her again,” said Süleyman Uysal, chair of the organising committee and of BOSAV.

Founder Erman Aras said the race began so that Bodrum-built boats could go out under sail and the masters who built them could be better known. The Bodrum Cup was started in 1988 by Era Bodrum Sailing Club.
