Sweden Takes the Lead as 29er EuroCup Finals Tighten Up in Medemblik

Henric Wigforss and William Drakenberg move to the top after Day 2, with France and Germany close behind in a tightly contested battle.

Sweden’s Henric Wigforss and William Drakenberg have taken the overall lead at the 29er EuroCup Finals in Medemblik after the second day of racing, moving ahead of France’s Alexandre Mostini and Raphael Allain and Germany’s Lukas Wagner and Valentin Ziegler.

After eight races, Wigforss and Drakenberg (SWE 2) lead on 12 net points. Mostini and Allain (FRA 1) are second on 18, while Wagner and Ziegler (GER 3542), who led the standings after the opening day, have slipped to third on 20.

With just eight points separating the top three teams, the fight for the lead remains finely balanced as the regatta continues.

Light Winds Shape the Day

Light breezes made for a quieter day on the water. The Yellow Fleet completed two races, while the Blue Fleet sailed one, as conditions shaped the day’s programme in Medemblik.

Despite the lighter conditions, the leaderboard shifted at the front, with Sweden moving into first and France climbing to second. Germany’s overnight leaders now face a close contest to regain the top position.
