Late Applications Open for 2027 ILCA Under-21 World Championships

Late applications are now open for the 2027 Performance Sailcraft ILCA Under-21 World Championships, set to take place in Australia in January.

The 2027 Performance Sailcraft ILCA Under-21 World Championships will bring together the world’s leading young ILCA sailors in Sandringham, Victoria, Australia, from 10–17 January 2027.

Hosted by Sandringham Yacht Club in cooperation with ILCAVIC and the ILCA Class Association, the championship will feature competition in ILCA 7 Men Under-21, ILCA 6 Women Under-21 and ILCA 7 Men Under-19.

Following the close of the initial application period, ILCA has opened a late application process for sailors who still wish to compete at the championship.

Late applications will remain open until 11 December 2026. Applications will be reviewed by the relevant ILCA national authorities and successful applicants will be placed on the waiting list, with places offered subject to availability.

ELIGIBILITY

The championship is open to eligible sailors who meet the ILCA and World Sailing requirements for the Under-21 categories.

For the 2027 edition, sailors born in 2007, 2008, 2009 or 2010 may be eligible, depending on the applicable age and class requirements.

The event will provide another major international stage for the next generation of ILCA sailors, with competitors from across the world expected to line up in Australian waters.

LIMITED PLACES AVAILABLE

Late applications do not guarantee a place in the championship. Entries will depend on available quotas and the final allocation process.

The 2027 ILCA Under-21 World Championships will be centred at Sandringham Yacht Club in Victoria, with the event scheduled to run from 10 to 17 January.
