Jonatán Vadnai Becomes Hungary’s First ILCA 7 World Champion

ILCA 7 sailors racing upwind at the 2026 World Championships in Dublin Bay

Jonatán Vadnai of Hungary is the new ILCA 7 Men’s World Champion, sealing the title at Dun Laoghaire, Ireland, the same venue that hosted the ILCA 6 Women’s Worlds this month. It is the first time a Hungarian sailor has won the ILCA 7 Men’s World Championship.

The championship drew a large international fleet to Dublin Bay, with racing run across qualifying and gold-fleet series before the title was decided. Vadnai’s win adds Hungary to a growing list of nations breaking the traditional European hold on the men’s Laser/ILCA 7 title.
