WING FOIL MAKES ITS BLACK SEA DEBUT IN TRABZON

WING FOIL MAKES ITS BLACK SEA DEBUT IN TRABZON

The Trabs Blacksea Wing Fest will take place from 2 to 4 October 2026 in Salacık, Akçaabat, Trabzon, bringing Wing Foil racing to the Black Sea for the first time.

The festival will be held as the opening event of the newly established Trabs Deniz Spor Kulübü and will bring together 22 athletes from Türkiye. The competitors will race in Wing Foil for two days along Trabzon’s Black Sea coast.

One of the fastest growing new generation wind sports, Wing Foil will be held in a competitive format on the Black Sea for the first time, making this the defining feature of the event.

The Black Sea is known for its strong winds and changing sea conditions. Organised sailing races, however, have been more limited in the region compared with Türkiye’s Aegean and Mediterranean coasts. The wind and wave conditions around Trabzon offer significant potential for Wing Foil and other wind sports.

The newly established Trabs Deniz Spor Kulübü aims to develop Wing Foil alongside dinghy classes, surfing and other new generation wind sports in the region. The club also plans to host national and international competitions alongside its training activities.

Yasemen Polat, President of Trabs Deniz Spor Kulübü, says the club aims to bring children and young people closer to the sea while strengthening Trabzon and the Black Sea’s connection with the international water sports community. One of the club’s long term goals is also to bring major Wing Foil events at European and World Championship level to the Black Sea.

Trabs Blacksea Wing Fest will be the first step towards this goal in Trabzon. The event will also mark the first Wing Foil race on the Black Sea and the beginning of a new chapter for water sports in Trabzon.
