Wingfoil Takes Flight in Trabzon as Black Sea Sees a New Watersports Era

Trabs Blacksea Wing Fest brought wingfoil to the Black Sea for the first time, combining on-water action with the launch of Trabs Deniz Spor Kulübü and a wider vision for watersports in Trabzon.

Wingfoil made its first appearance on the Black Sea in Trabzon as Trabs Blacksea Wing Fest brought together young athletes, coaches and watersports enthusiasts for a new event on the Turkish coast.

Organised by Trabs Deniz Spor Kulübü, the festival marked the launch of the club while introducing wingfoil to the region. Colourful wings filled the water as athletes took to the Black Sea, creating a festival atmosphere along the shoreline.

The event also brought together children and young sailors, highlighting the club’s focus on introducing a new generation to emerging watersports.

Beyond the water

The festival extended beyond the sporting programme, with athletes, coaches and officials taking part in a tour of Trabzon’s historic landmarks.

A first step for a wider programme

For Trabs Deniz Spor Kulübü, the wingfoil festival represents the beginning of a broader watersports programme in the region.

The club plans to introduce additional surf disciplines and develop future events, festivals and racing programmes in Trabzon, with the ambition of establishing the city as a new destination for emerging watersports on the Black Sea.

Wingfoil has now taken its first flight in Trabzon. For Trabs Deniz Spor Kulübü, it is only the beginning.
